SWIFT is the international-wire fallback, available in USD and EUR to nearly every destination — including the countries above, and many not listed here that have no local Grid rail. Prefer the local rail where one exists: it is faster and cheaper. SWIFT cannot reach sanctioned or prohibited destinations; Croatia and Slovenia are the two countries in this table it does not cover, and both are fully served by SEPA. Contact your Lightspark account manager to confirm coverage for a specific corridor.

Mobile Money pays a wallet held against the beneficiary’s phone number rather than a bank account. Create the external account with phoneNumber (and, in corridors served by more than one wallet, the provider or bankName that selects it) instead of an account number. Corridors that list both rails accept either — pick the one your beneficiary holds.

The wallets in parentheses show which providers a corridor reaches. Use the Discoveries API for the exact accepted values and current coverage, since wallet availability changes over time.

China has two rails serving different beneficiaries. AliPay and WeChat Pay are consumer wallet payouts — use these to pay an individual. Bank Transfer is business-to-business only, so it cannot be used to pay an individual.

Grid automatically selects the optimal rail based on currency, country, and amount. You don’t need to specify the rail in your API requests. For destinations without a local rail, create a SWIFT external account to pay out over international wire — see External Accounts.
